Arguably the most popular theatre in Australia, the Princess Theatre has played host to some of the world’s most successful stage productions. The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Cats and The Producers have all made triumphant performances here. Built in 1886, the Princess Theatre is regarded by many as one of the most spectacular landmarks in Melbourne. Haunted by friendly ghost ‘Federici’, who died of a heart attack after a perfomance of Faust, a seat in the dress circle is traditionally left vacant for him.
